Hexicero's 10x Shared & Parenquima's 10x 3x
Hexicero's 10x Shared
Civilization bonuses and unique technologies are shared across your entire team.
This is generally accepted as the go-to version for 10x games.
Parenquima's 10x 3x
Uses Hex's 10x as the base, (almost all) technologies can be researched 3 times. Resource nodes (except trees) have 10x more resources. Houses give 50 population space (Inca houses 100).
Find Lobbies and Invite Others With BottoBot
Colonel Otto maintains a discord bot for sending lobby invites to the discord server. Go to #game-invites and use the /lobby command followed by your aoe id (eg. aoe2de://0/123456789). Make sure you're sending the command to BottoBot as there are other bots that also use this command.
Find 10x Lobbies with aoe2lobby.com
aoe2lobby.com is also a helpful resource as it allows you to see how many games are currently waiting for players from a web browser, you can also use the join buttons to join lobbies from the in-browser links. Type 10x in the search bar and you should see something similar to this:
The Naughty List
CMDHigsby maintains a black list of players that some hosts may ban, depending on the frequency and severity of complaints that are reported in #troll-watch. It's generally perfectly acceptable to be a "noob", but noob plus zero communication often results in bans. Other reasons people are commonly banned by hosts are toxic/rude behaviour and intentional quitting due to poor civ matchups. If you believe you have been unfairly blacklisted, post a message in the #troll-watch channel in the discord.
Frequently Asked Questions
In development.
Q: Do civ bonuses and techs stack if players go full random?
A: Yes they do. Many regular players, including the mod developers play full-random due to the increased possibilities you can get with stacked bonuses. Hexicero says he once got three Armenians on the same team, and has been chasing that high ever since.
Q: Can I pick civ?
A: This is typically at the discretion of the lobby host, and the overwhelming majority of lobbies do not allow civ picking. If you join a lobby and notice that no one else has picked a civ, it's best to follow the crowd.
